Sail Baltimore was responsible for the ships and the crew hospitality for Star-Spangled Sailabration, the kick-off event for Star-Spangled 200, a three-year commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the penning of βThe Star-Spangled Banner.β We brought 45 vessels β tall ships, naval vessels and others β to Baltimore Harbor June 13-19 – the week encompassing Flag Day and the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of War – for this historic event!
Star-Spangled Sailabration was a spectacular success thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of many. Thank you to the volunteers who worked with us and gave up their normal lives for the week, the pilots and tug captains and crews who steered the ships safely into the Harbor, everyone who provided services to the ships, local businesses and organizations that welcomed the sailors, and each and every person who came to the waterfront to welcome the ships!
We posted many photos to our Facebook page. We also collected press on the event, as well as photos and videos from across the web. Whether you participated and want to relive the excitement or you want to see what you missed, just a few clicks will let you read all about it or see the memories that were captured.
The ships that sailed in for Star-Spangled Sailabration are listed on our Schedule. If you would like to know more about the ships, go to our Tall Ships, Naval Vessels or Other Vessels pages.
We are looking forward to Star-Spangled Spectacular in 2014!
